Hi, my name is Rachel, and I'm a genealogy-addict.
I LOVE THIS STUFF! Most people can't wait to log on to Facebook or MySpace, I need to hit my websites on a daily basis or I get cranky.
RootsWeb, Ancestry, New.FamilySearch - they are my new favorite websites. I have to get my daily fix. I log on at home when I can. I log on at work when I can. I stay after work to do a little more before I come home. I think about it all the time. I think about where I left off and what needs to be done. I think about where I can find more information, more pictures, more ancestors, more accurate information.
I'm thrilled to find detailed a eulogy or obituary so I can better track things. I log on to multiple websites at once and share information back and forth so other people can have better information. I've emailed my father-in-law some random pictures to confirm that these people were his relatives so I can get going on Ryan's side. I email people I don't know to see if we're related. I've been scanning old pictures and documents like crazy. I email people I don't know to tell them I have updated information on a common ancestor. And I can't stop.

We're headed to Salt Lake this weekend to visit Ryan's family and all I can think of is getting together with his grandparents and scanning pictures and hearing stories. I can't wait!
(Is there a 12-Step Program for people like me?)
Sounds like a pretty healthy addiction to me.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like my mom. Watch out for cemetaries-- we make my mom close her eyes when we drive by, otherwise she makes us get out and look at head stones to find ancestors.
