Scared Outta My Wits

I'm doing something drastic. I haven't done this since Ryan and I were dating in 2006 and it has some major potential for problems. I'm working graveyards.

When I was single, I loved graveyards. A few years, a husband, and some kids drastically change how flexible you can be though. Dispatch requires that each dispatcher work each shift (days, swings, and graves) for 8 weeks, at least once in a two year period. Well, the two year mark is coming up quickly, and I'm still owing a dayshift and a graveshift. So, I've gotta get at least one outta the way.

Eight weeks of graves. Midnight to 8am. It starts this coming Saturday. I truly hope it works okay - my biggest concern is how much (or little) sleep I will get with a double-toddler-house. We'll just have to see.

I will be able to work on genealogy and digital scrapbooking while I'm at "work". And it's gonna be a really fun shift of all the "old school" dispatchers: Tyler, Aleena, Amber, Austin, and me. It should be a riot with never a dull moment. But 4am gets a little yawn-ish. I hope to have enough to do to keep myself awake. Staying awake at home when needed will be a whole different story.

I'm thinking that I should stay awake when I get home from work in the mornings to get the girls breakfast, etc. Then maybe go to bed around 2-3pm when the girls go down for naps. (Thank Heaven for naptime!) Then I'll ~sleep~ until it's time to get the girls ready for bed. I've really missed being able to get them in pajamas, brush their teeth, read them stories, etc. They love to have me sing at night when I'm home. So, once they are down, maybe I'll be able to get another hour of sleep, maybe not. We'll see.

Wish me luck for the next 8 weeks!!
