Gettin Dirty!

I'm so excited for 2009 Gardening Season!! Wahoo. This will be the first year in two years that I can really have the time to spend to have a good season.

--->This pic is a shot Ryan took of our Hall's Honeysuckle & Creeping Rosemary in the front yard.

Two springs ago, I couldn't plant much because I couldn't bend over easily with two babies in my belly.

Last spring, I planted a little bit, but not enough to make me feel like I had a nice garden. I had 9 month old crawling & spitting up babies to worry about.

But, this year is different. I feel free almost. The girls even like to come out and play with me. Of course, I get a little too focused while I'm gardening to watch two toddlers going in different directions, eating neighbors plants, and chasing kitties. But I feel like our family has really hit a landmark.

I took pictures of my garden from 2006 (when Dad helped me) and thought I'd post them here. They were with my camera phone so they aren't very good quality. But you can see that the raised garden beds are full of GREEN!

And I can't wait to plant portulaca: a great St George lovin' flower. They are like soft little cactus leaves, so they do well in dry heat. I've had great success with them in the past, even in small containers. And there are tons of colors to choose from, which brightens up the yard nicely.

Happy Gardening Everyone!!
