The Great Binkie Wars

We are approaching the 18 month old mark. Lots of changes are in the works for us. Its all transitions from baby to "big girl" and some things are truly gonna suck...(no pun intended).

Binkies are the first battle. As you have seen in MANY pictures, the girls love their binkies. And they have come to be quite attached to them lately. And that is the part that worries me. If they are always wanting a binkie now, how hard is cutting back on binkies really gonna be??

I have had many comments from people like: "I want to see their faces instead of binkies in all the pictures." So, the battle begins. My plan of attack? To start to wean them from it. The pediatrician suggested no binkies by age 2. Well, I don't want to just go cold turkey with no binkies (I can't imagine that horror), so we're going to start slow.

So, as of today, we are limiting binkies to only naps and night time. Sigh. This is going to be a big undertaking I think. And as soon as I think I have all the binkies hidden, one of the girls has one in her mouth. I have to quickly (being sneaky) take it away and hide it. Distraction is the key.

Wish us luck, as the next few months will be full of fits and crying, for us AND the girls. Wink.
