I bet you don't hear that everyday - Someone bragging about how wonderful their in-laws are. Well, you're gonna get an earful now!
We just got back from a holiday trip to SLC. My in-laws always welcome us with open arms. They are so generous all the time. Always taking care of the girls and making Ryan and I go out on dates since we don't get to do that much at home. This trip was no different.
We have been having some problems starting up the van. Not knowing much about cars myself, I knew it could be any number of things: battery, starter, frammus valve...! But my father-in-law is a hobby mechanic and figured out that our van needed a new starter. So, the day after Christmas, he and Ryan took out the old starter, went to the auto parts store, got a new starter, and installed it. WOW! That is so amazing to me. He saved us so much money and hassle. I can't thank him enough.
My mother-in-law was always taking great care of the girls. She bathed them every day (a big, tiring job!!) and fed them and kept their diapers changed. I bet she's exhausted since we've left. But she loves it and it's so nice to have someone else help us out. Ryan and I slept in just about every day we were there. It was a great 'vacation' in our eyes.
Then since Ryan and I have never spent a night away from the girls, his parents kicked us out to go to Wendover and stay the night in what I refer to as "the porn room" - tacky decor, mirrors all over, a hot tub in the room, and a light rope hung up all the way around the ceiling. Bow-chicka-wow-WOW! So, we went to Wendover, Ryan played some slots, I almost got arrested (that story will come in the next few days!) , and we had a nice relaxing evening and slept on a KING size bed! YAY! We got back and the girls were so happy to see us, but we knew that they had been well taken care of while we were gone.
And the strangest part of the whole trip? I got a present labeled: To Rachel, Love Mom + Dad. My parents divorced more than 15 years ago and don't really speak. So, to have something labeled "Mom + Dad" took me aback for a few minutes. It was so sweet. I loved it.
They truly are loving parents and I am so lucky to be a part of the Sharich family.
