So, today the girls woke up at 8am. Ryan woke up with the girls the past THREE days (I love him so much for letting me sleep in!) so it was for sure my turn! We played on the couch while all three of us slowly woke up. I changed their diapers and started breakfast. Ryan always makes either pancakes or french toast for the girls for breakfast - what a guy!
I decided to make 'Egg Pancakes' instead of the usual Eggo cheater breakfasts I usually make. I think the girls thought the pieces of egg pancakes were weird. But we also had the usual breakfast sides of hashbrowns, sausage, peaches/fruit, and yogurt.
Usually after breakfast, the girls play for a while and then it's time for naps. Well, to 'play' requires shoes - to play with! Both girls just LOVE to bring us a shoe and say "Dee, dee!" So, we sit them down and put on the shoe they bring. They love to stumble around with one shoe on.
Playing shoes today was quite horrid because last night at Grandma Kristi's house, we left our shoes that fit. Size 5 already! So, the girls kept bringing me shoes that were 2 sizes too small: cute little white dress shoes with a white bow they wore at Easter, hot pink or purple plastic molded croc type shoes they wore early in the summer.
"Dee, dee!"
"Honey, this shoe is too small for your big footie!"
"Dee!"
So, I gently tug and pry the shoe on their tippy toes and there's no way it will fit on the heel, but the strap BARELY velcros on. So they are happy - until the shoe flops off sideways because the heel won't fit.
So, Grandma Kristi and I decide to head to Target to check out some more winter clothes for the girls (grown out of 12Month size, 18Month is a little roomy). We check out the shoe aisle. I'm quite cheap when it comes to shoes, especially since I have to buy for twins. Anything in the double digits price-wise is probably not going in my cart.
30% off CLEARANCE???? Pinch me! Some were only $5 a pair!
So, the girls got about 4 pairs of shoes each in various sizes: 6,7,8, etc. Some cute little pink princess shoes. Some casual blue strap shoes. Some multicolor wedge sandals for next summer.
And the whole time in the shoe area, the girls were pointing everywhere and "DEE" was being squealed at every pair! It was hilarious!
It's girly, I know, but I honestly can't wait for the girls to play dress up!
